14. Shop and restaurant staff
Thank you for waiters and waitresses - for their role in facilitating celebrations and other meetings. As they greet customers, take orders, serve food and drinks, and handle complaints, grant them good listening skills, a good memory, and patience when customers are difficult. 6.2% of employees in Bromsgrove work in hotels, restaurants, takeaways and cafes.
Thank you for the staff who work behind the tills and stock our shelves and deal patiently with rude or grumpy customers. They are the key workers that enable us to live our lives with ease. 12.4% of employees work in retail and wholesale in Bromsgrove.
God, we pray for the prosperity of our town that brings work and purpose to so many people. Thank you for the door staff, managers, cleaners, road sweepers and market traders that make it what it it. Pray for the Christians that live and work here, whose true purpose and identity is in a relationship with Jesus that cannot be taken away by a zero hours contract!
‘Whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the God Jesus.’ (Colossians 3:17)
Whether you’re working from home, on the building site, doing the weekly shop, or looking after the kids – God cares about the ‘work of your hands’. However small and insignificant they may seem, your daily tasks are part of your worship, how you serve others, and how you bear witness to God.
