41. St Godwald’s Church

The original church was built in1773 in the churchyard but was rebuild here in 1883 by John Cotton. We give thanks for the generations of people in Bromsgrove that have taught of the love and forgiveness that comes from following Jesus. We give thanks for the people leading and serving in the church today. We know that true leadership comes from pointing people to Jesus and true service is an outpouring of God’s love.  We meditate on your word from Colossians 2: 6-7 (NLT): And now, just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue to follow him. Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness. 40. Bromsgrove District Local Plan - St. Godwald's Lane

Between now and 2043, the council need to allocate enough land for 12,155 homes to meet our town’s Local Housing Need (LHN). We already have land for around more 3,000 homes identified through planning applications and large site allocations, which means the council needs to find additional land for just over 9,000 homes.  The council is currently consulting on it’s draft development strategy which will see the housing and other infrastructure, such as schools and health centres, built on land around the town. The draft plan indicates that this field has capacity for 300 houses with land behind the cricket club and along the railway line providing 300-400 more.  Pray for the councillors and all those affected that they reach the right decision.  More prayer stations This is just one of 45 prayer stations around Bromsgrove for the week of global prayer. 1st September - 7th September 2025. We give thanks for their work in serving those in need.  Marion, the chief executive, has asked us to pray for the following: - those who we support and walk alongside see the love of God in all that we do. That their hearts and minds would be stirred to learn more - that we remember God in all we do, even those who don’t have faith - that God guides us in next steps. We have done a great job in alleviating poverty but we are also called to prevent it. 33. Prayer for “Raise the Flag”

Over the last few weeks, the English flag has appeared on lamp posts across our town and region and a large demonstration was recently held in London by a group linking itself with the movement. Their sudden appearance has worried some people but the people putting the flags up say all they want is to brighten up the streets and unify the whole community around the flag of our country. We give thanks for their desire to bring people together and the community spirit they feel as they put them up. Although the flag has always been flown from churches and public buildings, and proudly waved at national sports events, it is also used by groups who have violently attacked people from ethnic minorities. We pray that God comforts those who are scared and that God causes those who are using our flag to express hatred to seek forgiveness. Jesus, we pray for unity around the shared common values of England and against those who seek division. We particularly pray for the online space where peop...

30. Harwood Park

Harwood Park is a community of just over 400 family homes built, mostly in the 1970s. Official statistics show that it is one of the least deprived areas in the country. Each Christmas a group of Christians from Bromsgrove Baptist Church put on a carol service in the park that is attended by people from the estate. There are a number of older people who have lived here since the estate was built and who are now old and infirm, relying on carers to come several times each day to meet their needs. There are three schools (Finstall, Aston Fields and Rigby Hall) on and around the estate, making it very popular with families. Thank God that so many families are able to grow up in a safe environment with good schools that they can walk to and where it is safe to play outside. Thank God for the strong community networks that have formed through parents and neighbours and over generations. Pray for the carol service and that people living here may come to know the joy and peace that comes from...

11. Men's Groups

There are several groups in the town that aim to support men emotional, relationally and spiritually. Give thanks for the men who lead these groups and the support they give. Give thanks also for the men who come. The Men’s group at Bromsgrove Baptist Church will have its next curry club social at Viceroy on 7th October. It aims to bring men together by providing events that allow men to support each other and hear people describe how Jesus has transformed their lives. Please pray for encouragement for Craig who plans and runs the events. We ask God to bless the men who attend groups, that they will benefit from the time together. And we also ask God to lift up the men who are alone or struggling and can’t see a way out that others will come round them and support them. Pray for Fane Conant who will talk about being a gambling addict at a meal on 4th November at the Baptist Church. 7. Mechanics

Mechanics work long hours running businesses to keep our vehicles functioning as they should. Their good work reflects the sustaining work of the Father through Jesus: 'in him, all things hold together'! (Colossians 1:17) We thank God that we can trust garages to treat us with integrity and kindness and that, as they inspect, repair, and service, they minister to people's mechanical needs with expertise and skill. Pray for the stresses and strains felt by the garage owners that come with running a business, employing people and working in partnership with others. Pray that they are able to get rest. Pray also for all mechanics, whether in fixing dishwashers in the home or air conditioning units in industrial buildings. By using technical skills to carry out essential repairs, they provide assistance that ensures we are all kept safe and able to continue with our life, often without noticing what they do. May they be a calm presence when faced with crises, and bless others t...

6. Sanders’ Park & St. John's School

Thank you for this beautiful open space gifted to the town by the Sanders sisters. Thank you for the churches and other groups that hold events here.  Lord, thank you for groundskeepers and gardeners. As they tidy paths, plant seeds, prune shrubs, mow lawns and remove weeds, help them to rejoice in the beauty of your creation. Protect them from the rain and sun and give them physical stamina as they work on their feet and hands and knees all day. We pray also for St. John's Middle School whose school borders the park. Give thanks for the many staff who work there and have dedicated their lives to teaching children. Pray in particular for the new year 5 pupils starting this week.
