Braille Bible

 Bible in English Braille (UEB)

The United Kingdom formally changed the way braille was written in 2011, adopting Universal English Braille as it's standard. Despite this format being the standard for well over a decade, I was shocked last year to discover that I couldn't get any hardcopy versions of the Bible in modern English braille. This is important as younger people will never have learnt the older format and although many people read the bible on electronic devices, there is still a place for hardcopy formats. To remedy this situation, I decided to transcribed the Open English Bible into UEB and make it available below for anyone to use as they wish.

These files are formatted to be 40 cells wide and 29 lines long. If you would like a version in a different page size, please message me and I will kindly oblige. As I wrote a program to format the transcribed text, I may also be able to transcribe other bibles into braille. Just get in touch.

The complete bible in one brf file

A zip file containing each book in a separate file

If you do make use of the bible, please let me know to encourage me. Also, if you spot any mistakes, let me know so I can investigate!

Since creating these brf files, the Torch Trust has made the NIV-UK available in braille which can be ordered from the braille bible section of the Torch Trust website.
