Prayer Meeting Guides

Prayer Meetings Guides

There are plenty of websites providing highly scripted prayer services (the Church of England is an excellent place to get these). Alternatively, websites such as the Northumbria Community Daily Office or apps such as Lectio365 are fantastic for personal prayer.

If leading a prayer meeting, it is necessary to allow people to speak as the Holy Spirit leads them or to voice their petitions to the Lord. A more flexible structure is therefore useful, especially when modelling to others.

Night time outreach prayer meetings

Prayer needs to run through any outreach event both before and during. We pray with the outreach team to prepare them for the spiritual battle, to relieve their burdens and to make sure they are being lead by the Holy Spirit. Then we keep praying for them whilst they are out, ministering to others and responding to events as they happen. Fellowship and service are also important and we should never feel guilty about sharing time with our brothers and sisters.

Prayer meetings at work or school

Around 1 in 30 people in the UK go to church and most of us are in workplaces with more than 60 employees so the chances are that you won't be the only Christian in your workplace. Don't worry if there are only two of you! Read about my experience of setting up a prayer meeting in my workplace.
